As much as Dr. Jones (Jamal) Addoh was at home anywhere, and so naturally was a Jamaican as well as a Ghanaian and African and man of the people, I remembered him as a New Yorker! In fact I have been so drawn to an mystified by that wonderful city that whenever I told people about my trips there I would remember a quote from Jamal...(paraphrasing from memory)"You know, If its 3AM and you want good Peruvian chicken, or whatever you want, you know where you can find it, and its THE BEST! You can't live like that anywhere else!" Jamal made life in New York seem so attractive. He made life seem attractive. It was clear that he loved life and the people he shared it with. He made his life about making other lives better. His memory must be honored in this way! to Shelly, Sureya, Kayin, Auntie Sonia, Nadira, Earl and all the beloved family and friends, May His Memory Be Eternal! And Sincerest condolences to you.

Jamal or Jones. He answered willingly to either name. The last time we met was in September 2017, while touring with my “Girl’s Trip” in New York. Jamal and his family was so generous in entertaining us. He wanted the best for us, to show us around in the Saturday afternoon he took off from his busy schedule. We enjoyed a sumptuous meal and made beautiful memories with his family and his in-laws.
Dr Jones Addoh and his colleagues volunteered in the inner city of Kingston and the rural area of Trelawny, Jamaica. I remember the trip to visit Jamal in Duncans, Trewlany. As we drove into the hills, farther and farther from the highway, we wondered if we would find him safe and sound. He was happy to be working in Jamaica. He expressed the wish to live in Jamaica. But he was ever mindful of his family and if this would work for them. He felt like a Jamaican. The short visit with him was full of “energy” and “Joy”.

Jamal sent us his usual Easter Greetings this year and finally I had some exchanges of Whatsapp Messages with him a few days before his passing. We had a “private Joke”, as he called it. I could hear the laughter and see his smile through the written words we exchanged. To my last comment then he wrote, through what is imagined again as a big smile on his face, “you know The Family”. I could tell he was happy that I knew his family. His family was his world, and yet his passion for mankind was enormous.
We could never be prepared for his sudden passing.
Shelly, Sureya, Kayin and the rest of the family: May God’s Grace see you through.
Rest In Peace Beloved Jamal Jones Addoh.

Jamal . Jones. He answered to either name willingly. Our last meeting was September 2017 when he and family was so generous in hosting my girl friends me and his in-laws to lunch, as we visited New York on our "Girl's Trip". He chose the best of everything wanting us to "make a memory", and we did.
Dr. Jones Addoh along with other colleagues, volunteered their service in the inner city of Kingston and in the rural area of Trelawny, Jamaica. I recall going to visit Jamal in the hills of Duncan, Trelawny. As we made our way far from the maddening crowd, we wondered if we would actually find him safe and sound. He was indeed being hosted by a lovely group. He was very happy to be in Jamaica working. He expressed wanting to live in Jamaica. He felt like Jamaican. The visit was brief, but my friend Ria, Uncle Joey and I thoroughly enjoyed the "energy and "joy' and plans he shared with us. Always being so proud and mindful of his family and mankind.
Finally Jamal and I had some exchange of Whatsapp Messages a few days before his passing. We had a "private joke", which I will not share. What I will say is, when I responded to his l

Jamal. We spent so little time together, yet I know you so well. I know you loved and cared for your family, (my family) so much.
It will be difficult for Shelly, Sureya and Kayin to live without you. However, rest assured that Auntie Angela and I will always be there for them. I can't forget my threatening you, that I can use a piece of "Four by Four", if you did not take care of my niece : ). You did take good care of her.
We never got the chance to go to the Boys and Girls Athletic Championship in Jamaica, together. But the Lord knows best. Rest In Peace My Nephew.

Dearest Shelly. Sureya and Kaylin,
We met Jones once in 2014 and from that encounter all we knew of him is that he loved to dance. Since his tragic passing we have heard so much about him, of his advocacy work and what he stood for and we are assured that you can be proud of his legacy; his passing is a loss not only to his family but to the community at large. May you find comfort in all your beautiful memories.
Happy Birthday Jones. Rest in Peace.
